L'ORÉAL-UNESCO Award For Women in Science, 2011


This award honors each year to five eminent scientists, one from each continent, for his work, the strength of his commitment to scientific work and the imprint left by her work in society.

This year, to mark the centenary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Marie Curie, the "For Women in Science" as well as ever to put women on the front page of the current science has decided to reward the contributions to the chemical sciences.

Professor of Chemistry at Kuwait University (Safat, KUWAIT) rewarded for their work on the corrosion, a problem of essential importance for the treatment of water and the oil industry.

Professor Vivian Wing-Wah YAM energy chemistry professor at the University of Hong Kong (CHINA) rewarded for his work on light-emitting materials and innovative methods to capture solar energy.

Professor Anne L'Huillier atomic physics professor at the University of Lund (SWEDEN) rewarded for their work on creating an extremely photographic apparatus can capture fast phenomena in the span of one attosecond (one billionth of a billionth of a second).
