As world population grows and global warming makes water more scarce, it becomes important to take care of this element. John Anthony Allan, a professor at the University of London, was awarded the Stockholm Water Prize this year to develop a method calculation of the water used in the manufacture of products in a concept called "virtual water."
Allan explains, when you take a cup of coffee, there are 140 liters of water should be used to make, grow, produce, package and ship the beans.
